Eamonn Morrison is a partner at Kim Winston LLP. His practice focuses on patent preparation and prosecution in the chemical, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and medical device technology areas, as well as counseling clients on the strategic development of their intellectual property rights.
He has extensive experience in preparing and prosecuting patent applications to issue, both in the U.S. and internationally, in specific technologies such as small molecule pharmaceuticals, antibodies, biologic formulations, antibody-drug conjugates, blood coagulation factors, pharmaceutical excipients, fine chemicals, OLEDs, liquid crystals, organometallics, catalysts, consumer and agricultural products, performance polymers, adhesives, solvents, coatings, carbon fibers, and transition metal carbides, fuel cells, biofuel synthesis, steel making processes, and medical devices.
His counseling practice regularly involves rendering freedom-to-operate, non-infringement, and invalidity opinions on competitor intellectual property, as well as performing patent landscape and portfolio analyses for his clients.
Eamonn also has experience in patent litigation, including ANDA litigation, as well as various post-grant proceedings before the USPTO and PTAB, including ex parte and inter partes reexaminations, reissue applications, inter partes reviews, and interferences.
Prior to law school, Eamonn worked in the pharmaceutical industry as a medicinal chemist, with a particular focus on discovering and developing novel therapies for the treatment of Type II Diabetes Mellitus. During this previous career, Eamonn was a member of the research team at Bristol-Myers Squibb Company that discovered Farxiga® (dapaglifozin).
